“It’s Time To Join The Resistance”

Fellow Preppers,
Instead of complaining about the problems in this country, lets start working on solutions. A well written article in The Valliant Leader, Valliant, OK March 25, 2009, by John W. Whitehead;
“It’s Time To Join The Resistance”
“What country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance?” --Thomas Jefferson
Over the past few months, I’ve heard from many Americans who feel they’ve lost the power to be heard by their government. From the repeated assaults on our civil liberties to the financial ruin brought about by irresponsible corporations and government officials, Americans feel helpless and beaten down.
Faced with a government that is not heeding their demands, many are simply giving up. But we are far from helpless, and this is not the time to surrender our rights.
Too often, we forget that America began with a revolution. America was born out of the sheer grit and determination of a rebellious group of colonists. These freedom fighters stood their ground. They knew they had rights. And when those rights were systematically violated, the resisted.
Thankfully, there are a growing number of Americans -what I like to refer to as “teaspoons of resistance” - who have not given up the fight and are choosing to exercise their First Amendment right to peaceably assemble and “petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
There are many examples. Let me cite a few. In more than 40 cities across the country, growing numbers of Americans have been taking to the streets and staging “tea party protests” to voice their objections to the government’s out-of-control spending and its bailout of mega-corporations and bad mortgages. Although no tea is being tossed at these protests, they are gaining in popularity as a way for citizens to express their discontent with government spending gone haywire. In fact, organizers are planning a nationwide Tax-Day Tea Party protest.
Mindy McAlindon of Franklin, Tennessee, is taking a slightly different approach in voicing her discontent about the economy. She plans to bombard the White house with actual tea bags and protest notes. Protesters in other cities are planning to do the same for members of Congress.
More than 10,000 demonstrators in 100 locations across the country recently gathered at the offices of major banks whose behavior both before and since the government bailout “Thousands will soon travel to Washington, DC, to protest the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The rally, which will take place the day after the sixth anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, will reportedly be the first national antiwar demonstration in the united states since President Obama took office.
And then there is Concepcion Picciotto, a small woman in her late 60s who has carried on the longest continuous act of protest in the united states. Since 1981, Picciotto has staged a round-the-clock peace vigil across from the White House in Lafayettte Park in the hopes of ending U.S. interventionist wars and banning nuclear weapons. She has thus far managed to outlast four presidents - Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and George w. bush - and she’s planning to outlast Barack Obama.
To fellow activists, Picciotto is a living symbol of resistance and an amazing example of grassroots democracy who understands that power is with the people. Unfortunately, her vigil has not been without its trials. Over the course of the past 28 years, Picciotto says she has been cursed at, spat on and beaten up, arrested and issued $50 citations for illegal “camping” in the park. Nevertheless, she persists in her solitary vigil.
We could use more tireless freedom fighters such as Concepcion pickiest today. Yet she is merely one of a long and historic line of Americans to stage populist protests in the form of sleep-ins, sit-ins and marches to oppose government policies, counter injustice and bring about change.
For example, in May of 1932, more than 43,000 people - World War I veterans and their families - marched on Washington. Out of work, destitute and with families to feed, the veterans set up tent cities in the nation’s capital and refused to leave until the government agreed to pay the bonuses they ad been promised as a reward for their services. The Senate voted against paying them immediately, but the protesters didn’t budge. Congress adjourned for the summer,
And still the protesters remained encamped. Finally, on July 28 under orders from president Herbert Hoover, the Army descended with tanks and cavalry and drove them out, setting their makeshift camps on fire. Still, the protesters returned the following year, and eventually their efforts not only succeeded in securing payment of the bonuses but contributed to the passage of the G.I. Bill of Rights.
Thus, while protests and acts of resistance may not always achieve immediate results, they’re a good place to start. Time and again throughout our nation’s history, real change has come at the urging of the people. After all, governments aren’t proactive, they’re reactive. They only move when you urge them to move. The Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s is a perfect example. Just imagine how much longer it would have taken to gain equality for African-Americans without the efforts of Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and so many other fearless black Americans.
Clearly, this is no time to stand silently on the sidelines. It’s a time for anger and reform. Most importantly, it’s a time for making ourselves heard. And there is no better time to act than the present. As Robert F. Kennedy reminded his listeners in a speech delivered at the University of Cape Town in 1966, ”Hand in hand with freedom of speech goes the power to be heard, to share in the decisions of government which shape men’s lives. Everything that makes man’s life worthwhile - family, work, education, a place to rest one’s head - all this depends on decisions of government; all can be swept away by a government which does not heed the demands of its people.”
What can ordinary citizens do? Instead of sitting around and waiting for someone else to change things, at charge. Never discount the part that everyday citizens play in our nation’s future. You can change things, but there can be no action without education. Get educated about your rights and exercise them. Start by reading the Bill of Rights. You can do so online at www.rutherford.org . Or, if you want a copy to keep with you, email me at johnw@rutherford.org and I’ll send you a free one.
Most important of all, just get out there and do your part to make sure that your government officials hear you. The best way to ensure that happens is by never giving up, never backing down, and never remaining silent. To quote Dr. King, “If you can’t fly, run; if you can’t run, walk; if you can’t walk, crawl, but by all means keep moving.”
It doesn’t matter whether you’re protesting the economy, the war, the environment or something else altogether. What matters is that you do your prt. As that great revolutionary firebrand Samuel Adams pointed out, “It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brushfires in people’s minds.”
Take some time right now and start your own brushfire from freedom. In the words of one Tea party organizer, become “10-minute citizens. Take 10 minutes, six days a week and learn about the issues, and then call politicians, or email them, or call talk radio, or write letters to the editor and make your voice heard.”
It’s midnight in America right now. But the real question is, will there be a dawn? That’s up to you and me. The future is in our hands.
The best we can do is size up the chances, calculate the risks involved, estimate our ability to deal with them, and then make our plans with confidence. - Henry Ford

No offense Inalienable Rights, I would just prefer not to read anymore of your posts. It sounds to me that you have been conditioned by the NWO in your way of thinking to live in a communist type community. Playing into their hands is exactly what they want.

Last time I checked the NWO wants to control you, house you, feed you in just the same way you are looking for in a community. This is a form of communism.

I would also like to state for the record, I do not believe in large communities and/or communes. There is too many personality conflicts and way too exposed. Individual small groups with 3-4 families makes better sense. With each family having their own space, their own individuality this is truly what America is supposed to be about. This is what we are standing up for against the NWO for our freedoms as individuals.

At the time of 9/11, our government was so paranoid…..ha ha ha (or so they made Americans believe that there were terrorists threats to America) that they came up with Homeland Security and the American Patriot Act. You say that in your community “We will have a lot less of every thing that is important all because everyone MUST live the American dream and have their own space. EVEN IF IT KILLS THEM.” If we were to think like you then we would be giving up our individual freedoms, our individuality, and our individual rights.
This is exactly what the NWO wants, I tell you right now I refuse.

I will live free, fight for my children’s and their children’s rights to live free, just as our forefathers did for us. I will not be subject to anyone with a communist way of thinking or living.
In the future, if you plan on blogging I would like to make a suggestion to blog something useful that all the Prepper’s can use, instead of so much doom and gloom like there is no hope and you should just march right into one of those FEMA camps they have set up for people like you.

With that being said, I do respect your way of thinking, even though I do not agree with it. Wish you all the best of luck with finding your right community with like minded people like your self, and suggest you leave the one you are in cause it sounds like you are not all on the same page.

Sorry Folks - no disrespect intended to IR, but I had to pull the plug on that last post. OK Preppers Network is not about promoting socialism. Even facial socialism for the greater good, rather than inherently bad socialism in application - is not something I agree with, so promoting that topic is verboten here. I suppose if Tom wants it back - he will put it back.

For those out there who like socialism - view my removal of this post as a taste of what is like to have someone determine what the greater good is, despite what you think - and then implement it against your will. (I will admit our current representative republic has lately been functioning in such a manner - and I hate that shit) Socialism does not seem so grand anymore. I would be in favor of a vote by APN members (remember that whole Democracy thing?) about whether this post, or any post promoting socialism should be allowed.

Sorry to be an ass - but I am an ass. To all those who read and support, thank you - to all the other Prepper networks, keep up the good work I read each and every one of your blogs daily.

We need to work together patriots

Patriots for some strange reason don't want to work together. It's really an enigma with me. The left does not have this flaw, and we certainly could learn a heck of a lot from them. If you doubt me take a look at: http://www.ic.org/ There are several thousand, mostly left leaning, Intentional Communities listed there. I was recently pleasantly surprised when a member of one of these large and numerous "tree hugging" groups assured me that they were awake, and well armed, though they did not want it to be well known.

Patriots for the most part want to hide out in the woods and hope that the bad things will go away. I guess that is to be expected after the CIA with it's MK Ultra mind control program has spend the last 70 years learning how to brain wash us into doing the exact opposite of what is best for us.

What they did not take into account however are independent thinkers like myself that see through their smoke and mirrors.

Do you really think that the NWO does not know about your retreat? Or can not easily find it? Are you really that naive? Is there a record at the court house with your name on it? Even if it is held in a corporation or trust there are names that are in the public record. One way to cover this paper trail involves non-statutory trusts, but even that may set off red flags, if it was instituted in the last few years or even the fact that it is a trust rather than individual ownership.

Have you used your cell phone in the vicinity of your retreat? If so you are located. Have you used an ATM or credit card near your retreat? Have you visited a Walmart in the area with it's facial recognition software? Have you driven past any traffic cameras that use license plate recognition technology? Has the local sheriff driven by your place? How did you pay your property tax? Can it be traced back to you? Do you get prescriptions locally? Have you bought bulk food somewhere locally? Have you mail ordered anything from a "survival" type company? Are you underground where satellites can't see? Are your crops underground? Do you heat with wood and leave a smoke and heat signature? Did you ever mention your location in an email or on a telephone call that can be traced to you? Have you called from pay phones in your area? If the people that you called are related to you then your location may be taken a closer look at. No matter if you used an untraceable calling card or not. Will you use a radio that can be triangulated on?

If you did any of the above, you are not invisible. Not by along shot, and most of you have done many of the above things. Even if you have not done a single one of the above, you are not will not be hard to find with modern technology.

What is the answer then?

It's very simple we need to network.
We need to let each other know about our existence.
Working with other groups can create a synergy that makes us 100 times as effective as working alone.

  • One of the big things that we need is information on the movements of who ever the enemy is. How can you bug out if you don't know they are coming? How can you fight an enemy that you don't know where they are at?
  • If you have a network of farms in a 5 to 20 mile range of you location, you can all alert one another by radio or even by runner of any impending danger.
  • If your group needs to bug out you will have a support system.
  • If you need to exchange seeds for plants that you can't grow because of cross pollination problems, you can arrange ahead of time to have certain farms save certain seeds and grow certain plants.
  • Another group may be able to barter a life saving item like a pair of boots, bullets, or an antibiotic.
  • Another group may have a specialist such as a dentist, nurse, or an ex special forces member whose services may save your life.
  • You can have a mutual defense compact and come to each others defense.
  • Do you have enough members for a 24 hour watch? Perhaps working with another group you can set up a watch along an approaching road.

The bottom line is if your group is isolated you have much less chance of making it. Don't fall for thinking that you can hide and be safe.
In short I urge you to list at least contact information for your group on the Preppers Network and also at a site such as my group homesteading site: http://bigjohnsforum.com

Thanks for listening. Now take some action, liberty is not a spectators sport.
